What the Label
Won't Tell You
Most people never read the ingredient list. They probably should.
Every skincare product sold in the US is legally required to list its ingredients in descending order of concentration. It is one of the few genuinely transparent disclosures the beauty industry makes — and almost nobody uses it.
I started reading them after my mum asked me to buy her a $75 serum, and discovered the first five ingredients were water, glycerin, and three types of silicone. The actives it was marketed on appeared mid-list. At that concentration, they were essentially decorative.
That frustration became Beyond the Label.
